The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, 680 Radcliffe St., Bristol, recently announced Code Club, a STEM educational series for youth at the library beginning this month.
Using Prenda software, children in grades 2–8 learn how to code in Blocky, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and Python, to build websites, video games, apps and more. Code Club meets 5:30 to 7 p.m. weekly beginning Jan. 21 and continuing through December 2019. Students in grades 2–4 meet on Mondays with grades 5–8 meeting on Tuesdays.
Three workshop series are scheduled throughout the year. Session one will take place Jan. 21-May 28, session two from June 3-Aug. 27, and session three from Sept. 3-Dec. 17. Registration is required for each of the three free coding sessions. Participants are invited to bring their own laptop or Chromebook to each session. A limited number of library Chromebooks will be available to use during Code Club.
