Camp NAC, located at the Newtown Athletic Club, is now officially accredited.
ACA accreditations stated — “That means that your child’s camp cares enough to undergo a thorough peer review of its operation, from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. American Camp Association collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at your child’s camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation. Camps and ACA form a partnership that promotes growth and fun in an environment committed to safety.”
ACA helps member camps provide: healthy, developmentally appropriate activities and learning experiences; discovery through experiential education; caring, competent role models; service to the community and the environment; and opportunities for leadership and personal growth.
This year, more than 10 new camps being added. These include Lil Basketball, Raq at the NAC, Intro to Softball, Broadway Theater, Marvel Madness, Cardboard Creations, Broadcasting and Techno Kids.
Additional options are available such as before care, mid-day care, after care, lunch packages, swim lessons and gymnastics lessons. A bonus to all campers every Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. is the use of the world-class outdoor pool complex for families of all campers who attended camp that week (exception July 4).
In order to receive a 10 percent early bird discount, pay in full and register online before Feb. 16. Multi-sibling discounts are also available.
NAC is hosting an open house for summer camps on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the NAC Brown Gymnasium. This is a chance for everyone in the community to stop by and see in-person what Camp NAC summer camps are all about. There will be demonstrations, games, inflatables and more for everyone in the family. Camp NAC summer camps are open to everyone, members and non-members.
