State Rep.-elect Wendi Thomas will join other members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives when they are sworn into office on Tuesday, Jan. 1, in a ceremony starting at noon.

The ceremony will be available via livestream video at RepThomas.com

Thomas will be opening an office at 998 Second Street Pike in Richboro.

The 178th Legislative District consists of Northampton, Solebury, Upper Makefield, Wrightstown and New Hope.

Thomas, a former Council Rock School Board president, is married with three adult children. She will be part of the Republican majority.

Democrats gained 11 seats in the Nov. 6 election, but are still at a 110–93 disadvantage.

When the House begins its new session, Democrats will be down to 91 seats following the death of Lackawanna County Rep. Sid Michaels Kavulich and the bribery conviction of Philadelphia Rep. Vanessa Lowery Brown.

House Speaker Mike Turzai will set special election dates.
