Lowe’s Heroes from Warrington volunteered their time and skills to help renovate the Bucks County Opportunity Council’s (BCOC) new location in Bristol Township. Renovations included painting the interior of the first and second floors of BCOC’s new location at 721 Veterans Highway using paint and supplies donated by the Warrington Lowe’s.

The Lowe’s Heroes program began more than 10 years ago as a project that would allow Lowe’s employees to make a difference in their community. Every year, each Lowe’s location chooses a local nonprofit organization or K–12 public school to help renovate. Throughout the United States, Lowe’s Heroes have devoted thousands of hours to improving their communities.

“We greatly appreciate the staff at Lowe’s Warrington for all the hard work they put into improving our new building,” explained Joe Cuozzo, director of development at the Bucks County Opportunity Council. “The paint and paint supplies make a huge difference in all the rooms and saves us from having to pay professionals to do the job. It really makes a difference in helping us open later this fall.”

The new Bristol location will help the Bucks County Opportunity Council expand its services for low income families in lower Bucks County. In addition to emergency housing services and income tax preparation during tax season, the Opportunity Council will offer a recharge center for any individuals or families needing assistance including outlets to charge electronics, a shower, bathroom facilities and a washer and dryer for clothes.

BCOC is the leading anti-poverty nonprofit organization in Bucks County and the designated Community Action Agency for the county of Bucks. Last year, BCOC served more than 11,000 Bucks County residents in need of housing, food, tax return preparation, heating and cooling services and emergency services.
