Students can now complete certification in just four weeks

To meet high demand in the healthcare field, Bucks County Community College’s Health Sciences Department has introduced an accelerated four-week course for Nurse Aide Certification, from Dec. 10 to Jan. 4.
Karen Souvigney, the college’s nurse aide training program coordinator, said the accelerated course is designed for the college student in need of clinical hours, or for those who are unsure of a career path in healthcare. The course can provide an opportunity for those students to explore the foundations of caregiving and offer a platform for healthcare delivery.
The course offers hands-on healthcare training, and provides 53 clinical hours toward the student’s respective major. Nurse aide training is also eligible for 100 percent reimbursement by employers.
The course will run from Dec. 10 to Jan 4 at the Newtown Campus, 275 Swamp Road. Seating is limited. Registration deadline is Dec. 3.
Upon completion of the intensive 120-hour course, which consists of classroom instruction, skills laboratory experience, and hands-on training at a clinical site, students are eligible to take the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Competency Exam and enroll in the Nurse Aide registry for Pennsylvania.
