Mars InSight Landing Live Stream

Are you interested in space travel, NASA, the planets or Mars? Visit the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, 680 Radcliffe St., Bristol, on Monday, Nov. 26 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. to watch NASA’s live coverage of the NASA InSight Landing on Mars.

InSight is short for Interior exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport, a NASA Discovery Program, and is a single geophysical lander that is a “terrestrial planet explorer that will open a window into the processes that shaped the rocky planets of the inner solar system (including Earth) more than 4.5 billion years ago.”

This event will include hands-on learning activities and snacks. No registration is required for this free, family-friendly event.

‘227 Days in Space’ featuring astronaut Daniel Bursch

If you missed this event at Bristol Riverside Theatre, you are invited to a screening of 227 Days in Space, a film of former NASA astronaut Daniel Bursch’s presentation. Drop by the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library on Monday Dec. 10 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. to view the edited presentation. Light refreshments will be served. No registration is required for this free, family event.

Born in Bristol and raised in Vestal, New York, Bursch, a former Naval Officer and NASA Astronaut, serves in one of the advisor positions in the Space Systems Academic Group at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). Bursch was a Naval Flight Officer and graduate student at NPS before his selection as an astronaut in 1990. He completed four missions to space, the most recent one as a member of the ExpeditionFour crew to the International Space Station from Dec. 2001 to June 2002.
