The Newtown Ambulance Squad was recently awarded a $112,000 grant from the state Department of Health to purchase a new ambulance.
“I worked with Gov. Wolf, Newtown Ambulance Squad Chief of Operations Evan Resnikoff, Chairman Phil Calabro and other members of the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors to obtain this grant that will benefit the squad’s entire service area,” said state Rep. Perry Warren. “The Newtown Board of Supervisors increased the squad’s funding in 2018. That funding, coupled with this grant, will enable the squad to provide increased emergency medical services to our residents.”
Warren said the state-of-the-art, four-wheel-drive ambulance will enable the squad to respond with advanced lifesaving services.
“We are really appreciative of the commonwealth and Rep. Warren for assisting us with this grant,” Resnikoff said.
The squad serves Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, Northampton Township in select sections of Holland, and parts of Upper and Lower Makefield townships. The squad is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Eighty-nine percent of the nonprofit Newtown Ambulance Squad’s revenue comes from fee-for-services, with the remainder coming from local taxes, donations and grants. ••
