State Rep. Helen Tai announced that the state Department of Education awarded a $20,000 competitive Safe Schools grant for the Council Rock School District to prevent and reduce violent incidents in schools. The Safe Schools Targeted Grant program assists schools in reducing unnecessary student disciplinary actions and promoting an environment of greater productivity, safety and learning; and enhancing anti-violence efforts among schools and parents, local governments, law enforcement and community organizations.

“Thank you, Council Rock School District, for making the effort to successfully apply for this competitive grant to provide a safer learning environment for our students,” Tai said. “School districts and governments at all levels need to continue to work together to promote programs like these to address and prevent violence in schools across the district and commonwealth.” ••
