Motorcyclists lined the streets in pink on Saturday, Oct. 20 for the 7th annual Pink Your Ride for Motorcyclists Increasing Awareness (MIA). The event benefited St. Mary Medical Center’s Breast Center and its Breast Health Initiative program, which provides free mammogram screenings for community members without health insurance.
The event included contests for best bikes and best costumes, along with guest speakers from St. Mary, Brian’s Harley-Davidson Dealer and the Bucks H.O.G. Before the ride, a check from the proceeds was presented to St. Mary radiologist Dr. Claire Streibert, who accepted the check on behalf of the hospital.
“The Pink Your Ride event and everyone that participated helps make a difference for breast cancer survivors and their families,” Streibert said. “We are truly blessed to share in this outpouring of support and simple human kindness from our community.”
Each year, the event is organized in conjunction with the Bucks County Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.). The Pink Your Ride for MIA was started when two sisters, Theresa Bingert, former Bucks County H.O.G. Ladies of Harley Officer, and Jaclyn Bingert, Bucks County H.O.G. Road Captain, founded Pink Your Ride for MIA in 2012. The ride is in memory of their sister, Mia Bingert Wiecenski, who passed away of breast cancer in 2007, and helps the motorcycling community spread breast cancer awareness.
The ride itself featured the decorated-in-pink bikes and riders, who were police escorted throughout Bucks County. The ride began at St. Mary and finished at the Brian’s Harley-Davidson dealership in Langhorne. Brian’s hosted after-ride festivities for participants.
