Pennsbury Thespians announce ‘Magic Theatre’

The Times

Pennsbury High School Thespians invite the public to join them as they journey to a magic land of imagination as they present the children’s theater classic Magic Theatre by Saundra Mathews-Deacon.

Tested and perfected before many audiences, this enchanting show has been acclaimed both by children and critics. It’s a “magical” production in which actors suddenly say “I’m fire” or “I’m a yellow submarine” and then portray what they’ve said. But in the midst of the fun, there’s substance too.

The show features songs and sketches as characters move through comic and serious contemporary fables celebrating childhood. Young audiences can immediately identify with these situations. The roles embody people, animals, inanimate objects, sounds, movement and magical transformations of the body and spirit. Whether whimsically looking at a childhood battle of boys versus girls, embracing everyone’s differences, or saluting the pleasures of a best friend, Magic Theatre is a continually unfolding kaleidoscope.

Magic Theatre will be presented on Friday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. with a special “character” breakfast; and Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. The show will take place at Pennsbury High School West Campus, Orange Auditorium, 608 South Olds Blvd., Fairless Hills.

Tickets can be purchased at the door one hour before each evening performance or at 10 a.m. during the character breakfast on Nov. 17. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and under. Seating is general admission. For more information, visit pennsburydrama.com
