Local Giant Food Stores associates recently volunteered on-site at the Fresh Connect Warminster location. The team helped to set up and distribute fresh produce to the community. It also made a generous donation of $1,050 to United Way of Bucks County in support of the Fresh Connect collaborative.

From now through the end of the year, Giant Food Store associates will make donations and volunteer their time to a local nonprofit associated with one of the Ahold Delhaize USA division’s three main charitable missions — feeding the hungry, supporting children and supporting troops. Giant launched its Season of Sharing at Fresh Connect.

Fresh Connect is a free farmers market, funded by United Way of Bucks County, that brings fresh, healthy food to those in need in Bucks County. The Fresh Connect market returns to the same three locations — Bristol, Warminster and Ottsville — on the same day at the same time each week, providing reliable and needed food to Bucks County residents facing hunger, 16 percent of whom are children.

Fresh Connect is a collaboration of Bucks County Opportunity Council, Philabundance, Rolling Harvest Food Rescue and St. Mary Medical Center, with funding by United Way of Bucks County.

Fresh Connect visits Warminster at noon on Tuesdays, Ottsville at 11 a.m. on Thursdays, and Bristol at noon on Fridays, year round, weather permitting.
