St. Mary Medical Center is ranked 19th best hospital in Pennsylvania and “high performing” in four different adult procedures and conditions, including Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Hip Replacement and Knee Replacement, according to the most recent U.S. News & World Report ranking.
U.S. News generates hospital rankings by evaluating data on nearly 5,000 hospitals in 16 adult specialties and nine adult procedures and conditions nationwide. The methodology they use to rank these hospitals in most areas of care are based on survival and readmission rates, volume, patient safety, patient experience, and quality of care.
“St. Mary is committed to providing safe, high-quality care to our patients in the Bucks County Community,” said Jim Woodward, St. Mary president and CEO. “We are thrilled to be given this distinction which further validates the dedication and commitment of our physicians and colleagues as we work to bring our brilliant technology and our mission of simple, human kindness to those we serve.”
St. Mary was ranked as high performing for Heart Failure, COPD, Hip Replacement and Knee Replacement based on factors that have been linked to higher quality, including volume, nurse staffing, specially trained physicians, and patient satisfaction scores. To be considered high performing in adult procedures and conditions, U.S. News & World Report uses objective data from multiple sources, including the American Hospital Association’s annual survey, the American Nurses Credentialing Center and more.
