The funding will establish programs to prevent and reduce violent incidents

Pennsbury and Council Rock school districts received a $19,969 and a $20,000 Pennsylvania Department of Education Safe Schools Targeted Grant, respectively, state Rep. Perry Warren, D-Bucks, recently announced.
The funding will establish programs within each district to prevent and reduce violent incidents. The districts were each one of 60 public school entities across the state to receive funding.
“Thanks to these important public investments, our schools can take another step toward assuring their students that they are in safe places to learn and just be students,” Warren said. “Students face many challenges when it comes to safety these days, starting with their very confidence inside the building. They deserve to know they are safe when they come to school, and the programs that this money establishes will help accomplish that.
“Thank you to Pennsbury and Council Rock for putting this money to work for students.”
The announcement follows the release in late August of the full report from the Pennsylvania School Safety Task Force created by Gov. Tom Wolf and Auditor General Eugene DePasquale after the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida. The report includes detailed recommendations on how the state, community and school officials should work collaboratively with each other and with students and families to use all the tools at their disposal to prevent school-based violence from occurring.
