Bucks Knocks Out Hunger, United Way of Bucks County’s annual hunger-fighting campaign, has received a $2,500 grant from Dominion Energy. The funds will be used to combat food insecurity and provide hunger relief in Bucks County.

Bucks Knocks Out Hunger receives donations from businesses, individuals, and civic groups. Funds are used to pack nutritious shelf-stable meals, as well as provide fresh produce and dairy products. The food is distributed through food pantries and senior centers.

“We are excited to support the United Way of Bucks County’s Bucks Knocks Out Hunger program,” said Robert Sauer, director of Dominion Energy’s Fairless Power Station, located in Fairless Hills. “We also wish to applaud the hundreds of volunteers for their efforts to pack 125,000 meals, supervise the assembly lines, and assist with meal distribution for those in need.”

Tim Philpot, the local United Way’s impact director for health and BKO Hunger project coordinator said, “We’re so grateful for this grant. Hunger is a 365-day a year issue in our community. Support is always needed. Dominion is making hard days much easier for people in need. This grant will provide literally thousands of meals and thousands of pounds of produce here in Bucks County.”

Bucks Knocks Out Hunger is the cornerstone of United Way of Bucks County’s hunger relief efforts and a key part of the organization’s focus on helping low-income residents meet their basic needs. Since 2013 Bucks Knocks Out Hunger has provided 625,000 meals to local food pantries, as well as 85 tons of local produce and dairy products.
