Health matters: Holy Redeemer recently opened an ambulatory medical center in Warminster, its fourth outpatient site in Bucks County. When it comes to healthcare, it’s safe to argue that most of us crave efficiency. We don’t want to waste our lives away in a crowded waiting room, hours after our “scheduled” appointment time. Nor do we feel like aimlessly wandering through a complicated hospital complex, confused about how to get to our desired destination.

Thankfully, Holy Redeemer Health System was built with the patient experience in mind.

“We respect how busy everyone is today,” said Marian Thallner, executive vice president of Holy Redeemer Health System. “They want their time spent efficiently.”

Beginning in 2012, its mission to provide care and comfort to the community has been established at outpatient facilities in Bensalem, Feasterville and Southampton. In April 2018, its reach was expanded further with the opening of an all-new ambulatory medical center in Warminster.

“Redeemer HealthCare in Warminster was designed from the ground up with a focus on patient care and convenience,” said Thallner. “We personally greet each person on arrival, offer private consultation rooms for checking in, and have a direct scheduling phone line for our high-quality, state-of-the-art diagnostic services.”

The two-story medical facility, located at 201 Veterans Way across the street from Costco near the intersection of Jacksonville and Street roads, is Holy Redeemer’s largest location yet. Spanning 36,000-square-feet and boasting ample parking space, the Warminster spot offers the broadest range of services, including radiology, diagnostic services, and primary and specialty physician offices.

According to Thallner, the goal has been to avoid duplicating services among the multiple facilities. For example, the 20,000-square-foot Bensalem location, 3300 Tillman Drive, is a destination site for ambulatory and physician services. The 12,000-square-foot facility in Southampton, 45 2nd Street Pike, is an outpatient women’s health center, and the 19,000-square-foot outpatient site in Feasterville, located at 23 Bustleton Pike, is for diagnostic and physician services.

Unique offerings at the Warminster facility include MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, X-ray (no appointment necessary), diagnostic cardiology (stress test, echocardiogram, EKG), nuclear studies, family medicine practice, and cardiology practice. Walk-ins are usually easily accommodated, and Saturday hours are available.

Overall, Thallner explained the new location will help Holy Redeemer provide medical services to more local residents and expand its presence in Bucks County — a population she said the health system has welcomed for many years. Headquartered in Meadowbrook, Holy Redeemer Hospital was founded in 1959 and since its inception, has treated patients spanning across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Though patients were fond of the hospital’s services, it was difficult for many to travel there.

“Holy Redeemer recognized that,” Thallner said. “We wanted to go out into the community and not expect them to drive to our hospital in Meadowbrook.”

After asking themselves the question “where can we bring our services,” the answer came almost instantaneously to administrators. A large number of patients were making the more than 30-minute trek from Bucks County, so it only made sense to bring the hospital’s services to them. Now, in the span of only six years, locals can choose from four locations depending on their medical needs.

A fifth is on the way. Slated to open its doors in January 2019, the latest addition to the Holy Redeemer family is under construction in Richboro at the intersection of 2nd Street Pike and Bustleton Pike. The services offered at this location are to be determined.

In addition to healthcare, Holy Redeemer has established a transitional housing program for homeless women and children, an active living community, home health and hospice services and a retirement community.
