Citizen Summer School — Back to School Edition

Risk Factors for Teens: How Can Parents Help?’ will take place Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building

The Times

Back to school can be a stressful transition for teens. The pressure of academics, extracurricular activities and social concerns can weigh on even the most well-adjusted young people. At a time when addiction and suicide are far too common, it is important that parents and guardians are equipped to intervene with their teen early.

The final 2018 Citizen Summer School session will focus on what to look for and how to help teens who are struggling as they return to school.

Topics will include: signs that your teen may be struggling with depression or anxiety; how to start a conversation about drug use and other high risk behavior with your children; and what resources are available to help teens and their parents.

These topics and more will be covered by an expert panel with speakers from St. Mary Medical Center, the Neshaminy School District, the Neshaminy Coalition for Youth, and the Middletown Township Police Department.

This is a free seminar with take-home information. Light refreshments included. Free babysitting available. The Municipal Building is located at 3 Municipal Way in Langhorne. Visit middletownbucks.org for more information.
