Earthship tours, concerts and more will take place this month

An Earthship Tour will take place Saturday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Earthship is open to the public two Saturdays a month for free tours.

Evenings at the Earthship Series — Introduction to Zentangle with Linda Reboh will take place Thursday, Sept. 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Zentangle is a simple-to-learn, relaxing way to create beautiful art by drawing simple patterns. Pre-registration is required.

Mary Courtney Concert will take place Saturday, Sept. 15 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. SLNC is pleased to welcome back the internationally renowned singer/musician. The concert will be held inside the Visitors’ Building. Doors open at 7 p.m. Cost is $12 per person in advance, $15 per person at the door. Advance ticket sales end Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. Prices are the same for all ages. No refunds or exchanges.

Harvest Moon — Equinox — Night Hike & Campfire will take place Friday, Sept. 21 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Enjoy a guided after-hours hike on the trails and end with a campfire and marshmallow roast, and a visit to the Earthship. Cost is $10 per person or $8 per person for Friends of Silver Lake members. Register online.

Breakfast Tacos and Trails Walk will take place Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. The fall fundraising walk will begin and end at Silver Lake Park. Attendees will walk over to Delhaas Woods and then back to the Visitors’ Center for a breakfast catered by Chuck’s BBQ. Cost is $25 per person.

Full Moon Kayaking will take place Saturday, Sept. 22 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. This kayak excursion is for those who have kayaked at least once before. Attendees will start at the edge of Silver Lake and once in the water, travel up Silver Lake into Magnolia Lake, where they will dock on the island in the middle. On the island, there will be a campfire where they will roast marshmallows. Afterward, the moonlight will guide the journey back. Participants must be at least 18. Cost is $30 per member, $35 per non-member.

Waterfall Exploration will take place Saturday, Sept. 29 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Turn over rocks and use nets to get an up close look at aquatic creatures in the waterfall at Silver Lake Park. Please wear shoes that can get wet. Participants must be able to climb up and down a three-step ladder. Cost is $2 per member, $3 per non-member.

Medicine Drum Making Workshop with Rainbows of Healing at the Earthship will take place Sunday, Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants will be supplied everything needed to create their own frame drum and accompanying beater. Valerie and Ian of Rainbows of Healing will then explain how to care for and use the drum. Workshop space is limited.
