Tie dye sneakers at Grundy

Have you seen shoes that look like tie dye works of art? Tie Dyeing Sneakers will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 21 at the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, 680 Radcliffe Street in Bristol. This crafting session allows attendees to transform plain, white canvas sneakers into unique, personalized wardrobe additions using common household items.

Register online at grundylibrary.org or by calling 215–788–7891 to reserve a seat for this free event. On the day of the workshop, bring clean, white sneakers to the library. The library will provide all materials to decorate the shoes. Be prepared to take damp sneakers home at the end of the event.

Outdoor adventures at Silver Lake Nature Center

Tracking Wild Animals will take place Saturday, July 14 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wild animals leave behind all types of signs that give us clues to their behaviors. During this expedition, participants will learn how to examine animal signs and get the chance to make a plaster cast of an animal track to take home. All ages welcome. Cost is $2 for members, $3 for non-members.

Silver Lake Nature Center Night at Richman’s Ice Cream will take place Tuesday, July 17 from 5 to 9 p.m. Join SLNC for some refreshing, delicious, fundraising fun. Richman’s will donate 20 percent of all sales to the Friends of the Silver Lake Nature Center (the nonprofit organization that supports SLNC). Customers just need to show they are part of this fundraising event by presenting a paper flyer, an electronic flyer, social media post, email or website post.

Summer Hike through Delhaas Woods will take place Saturday, July 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The Delhaas Woods is a beautiful part of SLNC, and the public is invited to join an exploration of the newly blazed, user-friendly trails. Cost is $2 for members, $3 for non-members.

Introduction to Kayaking will take place Saturday, July 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. This 2-hour class, led by kayaking instructor Melanie Pawlowski, introduces beginners to the parts of a kayak, how to hold and move a kayak paddle, how to enter and exit a kayak, ways to keep their balance and how to get around the water. The class takes place on the waters of Silver Lake. Cost is $25 for members, $30 for non-members. Pre-registration is required.
