Music lovers are invited to Doylestown this July for the Lenape Chamber Ensemble’s Summer Gala Concert season. They can enjoy three evenings of music held on consecutive Saturdays on July 7, 14 and 21, at 8 p.m. at Delaware Valley University’s Life Sciences Auditorium, 700 E. Butler Ave.

The opening concert on July 7 presents a Sonatina for Violin and Piano by Jean Sibelius; the Beethoven Razumovsky String Quartet №2 written in 1806; and a piano Quintet by Czech composer Zdenek Fibich. Guest artists include clarinetist Alan R. Kay and hornist David Jolley.

The July 14 concert transitions from the 18th century to the 20th. Performances include the String Quartet by Luigi Boccherini, followed by the Shostakovich String Quartet №1. Violinists Nancy Bean and Emily Daggett Smith, violist Brett Deubner and cellist Lloyd Smith join soloists Marcantonio Barone and Cyrus Beroukhim for the Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet by Ernest Chausson.

Ending the series on July 21 is Schubert’s String Trio in B flat major for violin, viola and cello, the Vaughan Williams Sonata for violin and piano played by Nancy Bean and Marcantonio Barone and, for the grand finale, the highly romantic Piano Quintet by Ernö Dohnányi.

There is free parking at the entrance to the college campus from New Britain Road, and train service on the R5 from Philadelphia is available with a stop at the university parking area. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and are available online at lenapechamberensemble.org, at the door or by calling 610–294–9361. ••
