Two Neshaminy High School seniors, both from Feasterville, were awarded college scholarships from the Feasterville Business Association.

Graduating seniors Daniel S. Cook and Wayne Fairbrother III are the recipients of $1,200 college scholarship awards from the FBA. According to scholarship committee chairpersons Rose McMenamin, Linda Pupkiewicz and Charles Roman, “The annual awards are based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and community service. Both of these outstanding students have demonstrated excellence in all three areas.”

The awards were paid for from money raised through the FBA’s annual golf outing.

Cook plans to attend Penn State University, Abington campus and major in information science and technology. He had a 3.66 cumulative grade point average and ranked near the top of his class of 623 students. He has been active in the Boy Scouts of America for the past six years and recently achieved the coveted Eagle Scout designation. Cook helped build and manage a pavilion at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home in Northeast Philadelphia for his Eagle Scout project and served as a volunteer at events at his church where his scout troop (153) is headquartered. He is the son of Cindy and Steven Cook.

Fairbrother plans to study software engineering at Drexel University in Philadelphia. He has a 3.9 cumulative grade point average and also ranked close to the top of his class of 623 students. He has been active in the school’s Robotics Club, President’s Scholars Bowl, Political Debate Club and World Affairs Club. During the summer, he has volunteered for numerous programs at his church and has worked part-time since he was 15-years-old. He is the son of Christine and Wayne Fairbrother.

The two 2018 college scholarship winners will walk with the FBA’s Belgium horse drawn wagon in the Lower Southampton Township Independence Day Parade on Wednesday, July 4. They additionally will be recognized at the parade committee breakfast held at the Suburban Diner in Feasterville prior to the parade.

Now in its 69th year, the mission of the Feasterville Business Association is to foster and encourage growth and progress for the betterment of the community. For more information, contact the FBA at 215–436–9768 or feasterville.biz.
