12 Allstate agency owners recently came together to secure a $12,000 Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grant to benefit Don’t Stall, Just Call. The grant will support Don’t Stall, Just Call’s mission to educate youth and families about the dangers of binge drinking, and to learn how to identify potentially fatal alcohol poisoning symptoms.

The participating agency owners earned $1,000 each for Don’t Stall, Just Call by creating informative door bulletins for college campuses that list the symptoms of alcohol poisoning. The nonprofit organization was founded in memory of Christian Ciammetti, a 20-year-old who died because of binge drinking and alcohol poisoning. Don’t Stall, Just Call will use the $12,000 grant to further its work to educate youth about what to do in life threatening, emergency situations involving alcohol.

The participants are among thousands of agency owners, financial specialists and licensed sales professionals around the country working to improve communities by volunteering for the causes they care about most.

“Our Allstate volunteers see firsthand the opportunities and challenges facing the communities they serve,” said Jim Ottomano, Allstate agency owner. “Giving back is core to who we are, which is why we’re proud to volunteer and raise funds to educate youth and families about life threatening situations, such as binge drinking.”

Don’t Stall, Just Call is one of thousands of organizations this year to receive All State Foundation Helping Hands Grants secured by agency owners, financial specialists and licensed sales professionals on behalf of the nonprofits where they volunteer. The grants support organizations addressing domestic violence, youth empowerment, disaster preparedness, hunger and other causes.

The Helping Hands Grants are one example of The Allstate Foundation’s legacy of service and giving. Since The Allstate Foundation was founded in 1952, it has contributed more than $449 million to support community nonprofits. In 2017, the foundation contributed more than $33 million to support local communities.

Participating Allstate agency owners include Joe Bracken, Havertown; Lance Davidson, Colmar; Dave Hashagen, King of Prussia; Joe Hussey, Ambler; Brian Kelly, Chalfont; Maureen Kocher, Berwick; James Lelii, Perkasie; Bev Logan, King of Prussia; Tom Mallon, Springfield; Jim Ottomano, Maple Glen; Steven Richmond, Warminster; and Ed Wizimirski, New Hope.
