TMA Bucks is pleased to announce that the Newtown Athletic Club is now a TMA Bucks Air Quality Partner.
The NAC is a premiere family fitness and wellness center in Newtown serving residents of Lower Bucks County.
“With our main focus on promoting healthy lifestyles this partnership is such a natural fit for us,” said Newtown Athletic Club director of public and government relations Linda Mitchell. “The more we can partner with TMA bucks to educate and inform our employees as well as members on air quality issues that can potentially be harmful to them, the better it is for their health.”
The NAC will forward Air Quality Action Day Alerts to about 500 employees and they also will display the action day alerts on their digital screens throughout the club where about 3,000 people come through daily.
“To have such a prominent and well-known Bucks County business like the Newtown Athletic Club on board as an air quality partner is what this partnership is all about,” said TMA Bucks acting executive director Steve Noll. “The amount of people we can educate on this important air quality issue impacting the area by partnering together is tremendous.”
TMA Bucks is always looking for businesses and organizations in Bucks County that want to become Air Quality partners to share with employees or residents tips to reduce air pollution and protect their health from air pollution.
As warmer weather arrives, so does the onset of ground-level ozone. High levels of ozone pose health risks for everyone, and large segments of the population including children and the elderly are considered especially sensitive to lower levels of air pollution. Fortunately, ozone levels are being monitored and the public can be alerted when levels become unhealthy. The Air Quality Partnership (AQP), a program of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, educates residents about the dangerous effects of ground-level ozone and provides air quality forecasts to the public.
