The Women’s Humane Society, America’s First Animal Shelter, was honored to be selected by Reedman-Toll Subaru in Langhorne as the dealership’s “hometown charity” during the nationwide Subaru Share the Love campaign this past holiday season.

During the six-week long event, the Subaru corporation donated $250 from each new car purchase or lease to a charitable institution of the buyer’s choice. Through the efforts of the Reedman-Toll Subaru sales team, and the numerous customers who showed their love for pets, more than $20,000 in funding was raised to help the homeless animals under the care of the Women’s Humane Society.

“We can’t say enough about our friends at Reedman-Toll Subaru, or the generosity of their customers,” said Cathy Malkemes, CEO of the Women’s Humane Society. “Support from our local business community is essential to helping us achieve our mission. It is especially rewarding to have a partner that cares about the wellbeing of animals as much as we do.”

The sales team from Reedman-Toll Subaru visited the shelter on May 14 to spend time with the animals, and present the Society with a donations check.

About the Women’s Humane Society

Founded in 1869 as the First Animal Shelter and Adoptions Program in America, the Women’s Humane Society offers a variety of services to the Greater Philadelphia region, including dog training classes and workshops, physical rehabilitation, and humane education programs for youth and community groups of all ages.

As part of its mission, the Women’s Humane Society Animal Hospital provides low-cost veterinary care to families in need, making pet ownership affordable and thus keeping more animals in their homes and out of shelters. Hospital services include annual wellness exams, vaccinations, sick exams, diagnosis and treatment, spaying/neutering, x-rays, bloodwork, dental procedures and more. All proceeds raised through veterinary service fees support the shelter of the stray, abandoned and abused animals that come into the Women’s Humane Society’s care.

The Women’s Humane Society is located at 3839 Richlieu Road in Bensalem, and can be reached by phone at 215–750–3100. For additional information, please visit www.womenshumanesociety.org.
