8th grade Charles Boehm Middle School student Casey Schaeffer, accompanied by her Full Heart crew, held the 3rd Full Heart Kids Carnival on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, May 5 in Chester Meadow on Lakeview Drive in Yardley.
The carnival was sponsored by Advanced Merchant Group, Congdon Associates Distributing (Cadco), Bucks County Business Connections, Yardley Makefield Lions Club, PECO, Team Toyota, Penn Community Bank, McCaffrey’s, Edgewood Dental, Joe of All Trades, Baldasari Insurance Agency and Makefield Lakes Community Association.
Featuring an appearance by the Villanova Will D. Cat mascot, pony rides, a bounce house, video game truck, raffles, silent auction and more, carnival sponsorships and donations totaled $6,200, with more than $4,300 benefiting three worthy causes:
A Soldier’s Hands — a 501(c)(3) organization providing needed skin care products for troops deployed overseas, founded by Schaeffer’s mentor and former Yardley resident Trish Shallenberger
Full Heart Music Scholarship — an award Schaeffer is initiating for the most improved senior high school orchestra student at Pennsbury High School
Joyce’s Voice for Cats Adoptions — a 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds to help pay for spay/neuter, provide vaccines and necessary vetting in order to adopt out social felines into forever homes
Some proceeds will be used to purchase a new Full Heart banner and promotional materials.
Schaeffer is truly grateful to all of her sponsors, attendees and members of her Full Heart crew for making it such a successful event.
If anyone still wishes to assist monetarily, donations will be accepted through the end of May at youcaring.com/fullheartcarnival.
