Tuesday marked the first day of spring, which (hopefully) means we’re putting these trying times of weekly nor’easters behind us for good. With warmer days on the horizon, it only made sense for Lower Southampton’s staple summer spot to start getting residents pumped for those 90-degree scorchers that’ll be here before we know it.

Parks and recreation director Matt Gilbert recently announced season passes are now on sale for families, individuals and seniors 60 years and older for the township’s Dolphin Swim Club, located at 260 W. Bristol Road in Feasterville.

“I’d like to invite all interested area residents to join us this season, however, please do not wait too long because space is limited,” Gilbert said.

As a season pass holder, guests can enjoy several unique pools built to meet the needs of swimming enthusiasts of all ages.

“Our large L-shaped pool, heated adult pool and baby pool for youngsters up to 5 years of age will be in excellent condition and ready to go for the 2018 season,” Gilbert noted.

In addition to the three mentioned, young ones can enjoy a splash pool featuring a dolphin sprayer. All of the pools are supervised and lifeguarded during all hours of operation.

This year, the swimming season will feature an “Aquacize” addition for adults 18 years and above. The special aquatic exercise program will be conducted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 to 2 p.m. Attendees must be season pass holders to be eligible to join. “Aquacize” registration is $63 for residents and $73 for non-residents.

Other amenities at Dolphin Swim Club include a six-foot waterslide, changing facilities, modern playground, snack stand, outdoor patio tables, rustic picnic grove, skate park, soccer fields and tennis, basketball and volleyball courts.

Season passes also include five special movie nights at Dolphin Swim Club hosted by the township. During these events, which usually occur twice a month throughout the summer, attendees can enjoy an evening of swimming while viewing a family-friendly movie. The snack stand will serve favorite theater snacks such as popcorn, though guests are welcome to bring their own food.

Special rates for full season passes are available for residents of Lower Southampton Township. Costs are $494 for families up to five members, $310 for individuals and $192 for seniors 60 years and up. Additional family members residing within the same residence may be added for $65 per person.

For non-residents, full season passes will be $647 for families up to five members. Additional family members residing within the same residence may be added for $65 per person. The non-resident cost for individuals is $399 for the season and $237 for seniors 60 years and above.

Daily admission is also available for individuals who don’t wish to commit to a season pass. Cost is $14 for adults and $10 for children under 12 years. Children under 3 years of age are free. A special twilight admission rate of $7 for both adults and children will be available seven days a week from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Dolphin Swim Club will be open on weekends from May 26 to June 17, and will swing into its full, daily operation from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 18. The season will end on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3. The space is also available on weekends for special events including birthdays, anniversaries and other family celebrations.

A digital online family membership registration system is now available for the 2018 swimming season. New and rejoining members should go to the Lower Southampton Township website at lowersouthamptontownship.org and click on parks and recreation. While rejoining and new members are encouraged to use the online electronic membership system, the old manual paper system will also be accepted for 2018.

The Dolphin Swim Club is owned and operated by Lower Southampton Township Parks and Recreation Department, 1500 Desire Ave. in Feasterville. For information about season passes, call 215–357–7300, ext. 340. ••
