Liliana is the first child to complete the ‘1,000 Books Before Kindergarten’ family reading program

Congratulations to Liliana, who recently became the first child to complete reading 1,000 books for the Margaret R. Grundy Library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Family Reading Program. Liliana was able to complete the program in just one year. She now plans to help her little brother as he begins his journey to reading 1,000 books. Great job, Liliana!
The Grundy Library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is open to all children ages birth to 5 years. Children receive a bag with items to help them complete this mission. After reading 100 books, children receive a poster and a sticker to place on it. Each time they read 100 books they receive another sticker. Special celebrations are scheduled at the library each quarter where participating children receive a prize or a book for each milestone they reach.
Does 1,000 books sound impossible? Reading just one book a day to your child will add up to 1,095 books in three years. Reading three books a day to your child will add up to 1,095 books in just one year!
