State Sen. Tommy Tomlinson (R-6th dist.) last week launched his campaign for re-election.

“I have prided myself on providing independent leadership that puts the people of Bucks County first every time. That’s why I have consistently voted for legislation that creates jobs, reforms government and makes it a priority to put people before politics,” he said.

“I have been proud to stand up against the political establishment and vote for historic bipartisan-backed pension reform that will control spending and help reduce property taxes. I also fought against the special interests and many in my own party by sponsoring a 5-percent Marcellus shale natural gas extraction tax; I joined my colleagues in voting for a proposal that implemented a smaller severance tax this past summer.”

State Rep. Tina Davis, a Democrat from Bristol Township, is challenging Tomlinson.

Tomlinson, a funeral home owner from Bensalem, served two terms in the state House before winning his Senate seat in 1994. In 2014, he crushed Democrat Kimberly Rose with 62 percent of the vote. Four years earlier, he handily defeated Bryan Allen, chief of staff to Davis.

In the Senate, Tomlinson chairs the Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee. He authored gaming legislation that resulted in 2,300 permanent local jobs at Parx Casino. The Pennsylvania Gaming Law that he wrote has provided more than $5.5 billion in property tax relief since 2008. ••
