U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-8th dist.) will host an information session for Bucks and Montgomery county high school students seeking nominations to military service academies on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Gallagher Room (Rollins Center) of Bucks County Community College’s Newtown Campus, 275 Swamp Road.

Fitzpatrick and his staff will be joined by representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy and Merchant Marine Academy. There also will be representatives from the Reserve Officers Training Corps and Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, along with cadets and midshipmen who can talk about their experiences in the different programs.

“I encourage students interested in a service academy to join us on August 26th,” Fitzpatrick said. “We will guide students through the rigorous process towards earning an academy nomination. I look forward to meeting students interested in serving our armed forces.”

Recommendations are assisted by Fitzpatrick’s Service Academy Nomination Committee, which includes active duty and retired military members from the 8th Congressional District.

The session is primarily intended for high school juniors and seniors, but sophomores seeking more information may also attend.
