The Times

Independence Day comes early in Holland as St. Bede the Venerable Church once again presents its Annual Patriotic Concert on Monday, July 3. Now in its 11th year, the concert has become the perfect way to kick off the community’s celebrations of the birth of the U.S.A.

The concert will be held on the church lawn, where there is plenty of room for everyone in the community and beyond to bring their lawn chairs, relax and enjoy the show. In case of rain, the concert will be held either at the St. Bede Gymnasium or in the auditorium of Council Rock South High School.

“This is always a special time when we are particularly aware of the unity we share as citizen’s of this great country,” said Rev. Monsignor John C. Marine, the pastor of St. Bede’s.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Verdi Concert Band of Norristown, soprano and Holland resident Robin Lynn Robbins and fellow soprano Jaye Green.

Along with patriotic standards such as “The Liberty Bell March,” “God Bless America” and “The Star Spangled Banner,” the concert will feature a tribute to the music of Frank Sinatra, a salute to Elvis Presley and selections from popular films and Broadway shows.

The concert will continue with a salute to all branches of the military and conclude with a rousing rendition of the “1812 Overture” and “Stars and Stripes Forever.” Be sure to bring a small flag or bell to participate in the finale!

This is a free community event and everyone is encouraged to attend. Guests can bring their own drinks and snacks or purchase some at the event. Family and friends are welcome to help ring in the 241st birthday of the U.S.A.
