U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-8th dist.) joined members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee for a hearing entitled “Israel, Palestinians and the United Nations: Challenges for the New Administration.”
The hearing was jointly held by the Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, of which Fitzpatrick is a member, and the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations.
Following the hearing, Fitzpatrick released this statement:
“For too long, the nation of Israel has been subjected to double standards and moral lecturing from the United Nations. From anti-Israel resolutions — most recently, last December — to constantly distorting acts of terror against the Israeli people, the U.N continually fails to respect the rights of Israel and its citizens. The United States must play an active role not only standing up for Israel, but also increase accountability at the U.N to address these issues; today’s hearing started that process. I look forward to working with President Trump, Ambassador (Nikki) Haley and members of this committee in a bipartisan fashion to strengthen our nation’s commitment to Israel and to instill accountability at the United Nations.”
