Bristol Borough Teen Foundation announces new members and programming

Following an encouraging meeting earlier this month, the Bristol Borough Teen Foundation is on the rebound with new members and new events this fall.

“I feel pretty confident because the people that came forward have the best interest of the town and the kids at heart,” said foundation founder Nicole Paleafico.

“We’re stronger now, and we’ll be able to accomplish more than something every two or three months. We can actually get this going with things once a month, maybe even twice a month.”

The group, which aims to provide activities for local teens, had worked on programming with only five members since forming in 2015.

Paleafico had hoped to have several events every year, but had to settle for only one every three or four months due to the members’ conflicting schedules and time constraints.

Now, with 15 people involved after the recent meeting, the group is ready to do much more.

That starts with a dance for local high schoolers on Friday, Nov. 4, at Bristol Junior-Senior High School, 1801 Wilson Ave., from 7 to 11 p.m.

It was an event in the works since March, but was nearly scrapped before the last meeting. Now, said Paleafico, it’s officially taking place.

The next week, the group will hold a beef-and-beer fundraiser where, along with money, the group hopes to recruit new members. The event takes place at the Ancient Order of Hibernians Bristol Division One Club, 614 Corson St., from 7 to 11 p.m.

After that, the Teen Foundation is planning a sporting event where teens will play either dodgeball or a H.O.R.S.E. basketball game against local firefighters, police and EMT personnel.

The group’s next meeting, open to the public, is Oct. 25 at Snyder-Girotti Elementary School, 450 Beaver St., at 7 p.m.
