Ralph DiGuiseppe III resigns as Bristol Borough School Director

Citing an increasingly busy work schedule, Bristol Borough School Director Ralph DiGuiseppe III announced his resignation at the board’s monthly meeting tonight.

DiGiuseppe was not present, and made the announcement via a letter read by fellow board member Joseph Caro.

According to the letter, DiGiuseppe job responsibilities increased significantly after the company he worked for merged with another two years ago. He took on a sales management position requiring him to travel regularly to Virginia as well as his office in Doylestown.

The busier schedule has been the reason for his absence at meetings and other events, he wrote, and with his “position in the company about to improve even further,” he would have additional schedule restraints.

It was in his best interest, and that of the board, then, that he resign. He had served on the board for nearly seven years.

“I want to apologize to the residents and students of Bristol Borough, as I have had very little time available to serve in my position as school director,” he wrote. “I believe the board, students and faculty would be better benefit from someone who could be more involved on a regular basis, and unfortunately I am not in a position to be more available at this time.”

DiGuiseppe must formally send the letter to the board for the resignation to be official. The board will determine shortly how and when they will move to fill the vacancy.

For the moment, however, various members expressed their understanding for DiGiuseppe circumstances.

“It’s disheartening that he’s leaving but I completely understand,” said Board President Kelly Cochran. He has a young family and he does need to further his career. I’m glad he’s doing so well in his business … and I wish him well.”
