Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-8th dist.) presented service medals earned during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War to local veterans and families at the American Legion Morell Smith Post 440 in Newtown.

“Today, we are surrounded by some truly great Americans, who fought and sacrificed for the ideals that make our nation great: freedom, liberty and justice,” Fitzpatrick said. “Every military member and veteran deserves our continual respect and appreciation. While the stories of these men differ, their love of country and commitment to service remain constant.”

Each veteran or family member was presented with medals and certificates obtained by Fitzpatrick’s office to replace military honors lost or earned but never received. Medals presented ranged from World War II Victory Medals to Purple Hearts.

Fitzpatrick’s staff includes Military and Veterans Affairs caseworkers, available to assist Bucks and Montgomery county veterans and families with military records, federal agencies requests and VA benefits.
