The National Republican Congressional Committee questioned why state Rep. Steve Santarsiero, the Democratic nominee in the 8th Congressional District, used Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in a fundraising email letter.
The NRCC describes the 8th as a “Republican-leaning district.”
In the email, Pelosi wrote that Santarsiero represents one of the most promising opportunities to pick up a Republican seat. She asked for $16 or more by June 30, the deadline for reporting second-quarter fundraising. She cited protection of Social Security and Medicare, common-sense gun safety reforms and revitalization of the education and health care systems.
“Congratulations to Steve Santarsiero for being endorsed by Nancy Pelosi. We couldn’t agree more that Nancy Pelosi cannot become speaker if Santarsiero isn’t elected in November,” said NRCC spokesman Chris Pack.
