Shaughnessy Naughton, a Democratic candidate in the 8th Congressional District, recently opened her first field office, located at 341 West Lincoln Highway in Penndel.
“I’m incredibly grateful for all of the individuals whose support, time and energy has made the opening of this office possible,” Naughton said. “The momentum our grassroots campaign has gathered in the past few months has been nothing short of amazing, and this office will help us to continue to grow and reach more voters throughout Lower Bucks County and the rest of the 8th district.”
The opening of the office comes on the heels of an announcement from the campaign that it had raised nearly $1 million in 2015, among the most of any Democratic congressional candidate across the country.
“This campaign has been built from the ground up by voters across the 8th district who want a fresh perspective because they are fed up with nothing getting done in Washington,” said Erik Polyak, Naughton’s campaign manager. “The Langhorne office will act as a staging ground for our campaign to spread the word to even more voters about Shaughnessy’s campaign and how important it is to elect a leader who will fight for middle-class families in Congress.”
Naughton was born and raised in Point Pleasant. After graduating from high school at 16, she attended Bryn Mawr College, where she earned a degree in chemistry.
In 2003, her family’s publishing business was faced with hard times, so she stepped in to help save the business.

Meanwhile, Santarsiero last week unveiled a bunch of endorsements.
The group includes Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, former congressman Joe Hoeffel, the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776 and the Solebury Democrats.
“If Democrats are going to flip this red seat back into Democratic hands, we need someone like Steve Santarsiero: a proven fighter, a devoted public servant and a family man with deep local ties,” DePasquale said. “Santarsiero is the only candidate in this race who I know can win a tough campaign and will go to Congress to work on behalf of all Pennsylvanians while standing up to the Washington special interests.”
UFCW Local 1776 marks Santarsiero’s 14th labor union endorsement.
“Steve Santarsiero’s record of standing up for working families and fighting for Pennsylvania jobs is what we need in Congress,” said UFCW 1776 President Wendell Young IV. “We are proud to support Steve. He has been a proven fighter for the members of our local in Harrisburg, and will continue to be a great advocate for the working men and women of our union in Washington, D.C.”
The Solebury Democrats serves as his 13th local Democratic organization endorsement.
To date, Naughton has no endorsements from labor unions or local Democratic organizations.
Santarsiero said: “I’m proud to have the support of so many people and organizations willing to stand with me. I have a record of working to create good-paying Pennsylvanian jobs, standing up to the NRA by authoring our state’s universal background check bill, voting against the governor of my own party to oppose fracking in state forests and turning down perks of office and my own pay while the state failed to pass a budget. I’m ready to run on my record and earn the Democratic Party’s nomination one vote at a time.”
Santarsiero was elected state representative in 2008. He and his wife, Ronni, have lived in Bucks County for 19 years. They have three children, Nancy, Billy and Johnny.
The 8th Congressional District consists of all of Bucks County and portions of Montgomery County.
