Yarn: Easy Colors from A2Z Fibers, 30% wool, 70% acrylic, 100g = 300 yds, 1 ball.
NEEDLES: US 5 needles or size necessary to obtain given gauge..
SIZE: Sm/Med (Large)
Live stitch cast on: Using a contrast color yarn, cast on 80 stitches. Work 6 or 7 rows st st,
ending with a knit row. Change to main yarn and begin pattern as follows:
Row 1 (WS): Purl.
Row 2: K1, increase in next, knit to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Row 3: Purl.
Rows 4 & 5: Repeat rows 2 & 3.
Row 6: P1, increase in next st, work to last 2 sts, p2tog..
Row 7: Knit.
Rows 8–15: Repeat rows 6 & 7.
Row 16: K1, increase in next, knit to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Row 17: Purl.
Rows 18–25: Repeat rows 16 & 17.
Repeat rows 6–25, 5(6) times more. Work rows 6–19 once. — 12(14) ridges.
Using a contrast color yarn, work 6 rows st st beginning with a knit row. Remove knitting
needles.
Kitchener stitch cast on edge to last row using yarn needle. This will form a tube. Remove
waste yarn. Using a length of yarn, gather end to form the top of hat. Secure
tightly.
