State Rep. Farry to host annual Senior Health Fare on April 17

Tom Waring, the Wire

State Rep. Frank Farry invites senior citizens who reside in the 142nd Legislative District and their caregivers to his annual Senior Health Fair on Friday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Raymond P. Mongillo Sr. Community Center (Middletown Community Center), located at 2140 Trenton Road in Levittown.

The event, which is free to attend, will feature representatives from state and local agencies with information pertaining to seniors, a variety of health screenings, light refreshments and door prizes.

Free fitness demonstrations will also be available to attendees throughout the day. The schedule is as follows: TaiChi at 10:15 a.m.; Zumba at 10:45 a.m.; and Yoga at 11:15 a.m.

“The purpose of this Senior Health Fair is to help put area seniors in touch with the agencies and businesses that exist in our backyards to help them live healthier, happier lives,” Farry said. “We’ve got a fun day planned, and I hope many can attend this year.”

No advance registration is required to attend the Senior Health Fair. For additional information, residents can contact Farry’s Langhorne office at 215–752–6750, or visit RepFarry.com

Meanwhile, members of the House Firefighters and Emergency Services Caucus last week elected Farry as majority chairman of the bipartisan group, which represents more than 200,000 paid and volunteer firefighters and emergency personnel.

Farry has served as a volunteer firefighter with the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company since June 1990, and as chief of the organization since January 2001.

“I hope to be a strong voice for our first responders in this new capacity,” Farry said. “As a fire chief in the 142nd District, I understand the daily challenges faced by our fire companies and emergency service organizations. These men and women do so much for our local communities. I will ensure they are given every opportunity to have a voice in the legislative process, especially as it pertains to their safety and success.”

Founded in 1990, the House Firefighters and Emergency Services Caucus provides a direct forum for professionals and volunteers to share their concerns about public safety and educate legislators on issues that impact emergency service personnel.

“I look forward to discussing Pennsylvania’s safety issues and working with these individuals to improve emergency and fire services and protect the people who risk their lives serving our communities,” Farry said.

Farry will lead the more than 50 caucus members in reviewing fire and public safety issues. As chairman, he will be responsible for helping to enact new laws to assist first responders and maximize public safety.
