State Sen. Stewart J. Greenleaf announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has awarded a $7,183,157 contract to James D. Morrissey Inc. of Philadelphia to repair and resurface 11 miles of Route 611 (Easton/Old York Road) in Jenkintown, Abington, Horsham, Upper Moreland and Cheltenham.
“This project is one of many being funded through Act 89 of 2013, the Transportation Funding Act,” Greenleaf said. “The legislature acted accordingly, responding to the immediate need for infrastructure repair across the commonwealth. I believe that Southeastern PA is the foremost economic engine for the state. I supported Act 89 with our local economy in mind. Route 611 connects millions of people to businesses, jobs and education in our communities. The projects funded by Act 89 are creating jobs and enhancing the economies of every region in Pennsylvania.”
Construction is expected to start in the spring to mill and pave Route 611 between the Bucks County line and the Philadelphia city line. Crews will also replace 302 curb ramps at 61 intersections along Route 611. The pavement resurfacing is expected to finish in November, and the entire project is expected to end in July 2016.
