YARN: Pattons Melody, 100% Acrylic, 3(3, 4) — 3.5oz (100g) balls. 72 yds(66m)
GAUGE: 9sts & 18 rows = 4” (10cm) in garter st (knit every row).
NEEDLES: US 11 & 15
Stitch Holders or spare needles

Yarn needle for sewing
SIZES: 6–9 month(12–18 month, 24 month (2yr))

HAT

  • With smaller needles, cast on 36(40, 44) sts.
  • Work in K1, p1 rib for 4 rows. Change to larger needles and g-st.
  • Work even in g-st until work measures 51⁄2,(6, 61⁄2 )” from beginning.
  • Next Row: K1, k2tog, k2, repeat from to last st, k1.
  • Next Row: Knit.
  • Next Row: K1, k2tog, repeat from across row.
  • Next Row: Knit
  • Next Row: K2tog across row. Cut yarn. Thread yarn through remaining sts and pull tightly. Sew side seam of hat.

Abbreviations: beg = begin(ning), BO = bind off, CO = cast on, dec = decrease(ing), g- st = garter stitch (knit every row), p = purl, k = knit, k2tog = knit two together, RS = right side, WS = wrong side, st(s) = stitch(es).
