Expect a different kind of traffic jam in Hatboro this weekend.

The 22nd annual Moonlight Memories car show will cruise into Hatboro again on Saturday, July 26. Both sides of York Road will be loaded with about 500 vintage and muscle cars and trucks. This event usually sees more than 50,000 attendees who will take to the streets on foot to view the show’s offerings.

“Everybody can’t wait for it to happen. It’s a great day for friends and family to get out and have some fun,” Kathy Salemno of the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce said.

The chamber produces the car show every year with live music, local food vendors and a live broadcast from WRDV, a Delaware Valley public radio station. The show’s chairman is Joseph Baskill, vice president of the chamber.

“He makes sure it all runs smoothly,” Salemno said.

Registered presenters are competing for 30 trophies and six other awards. Their vehicles will be reviewed and awarded by qualified auto judges selected by the chamber.

As part of the show, the Cradle of Liberty Boy Scouts Washington District will again be displaying their Pinewood Derby cars at the Hatboro Union Library at 243 S. York Road. Hatboro-Horsham High School Robotics Team will also be participating by “bringing a robot and showing attendees how robotics works,” Salemno said.

A newer feature of Moonlight Memories is the Backseat Drivers’ Alley, which includes a selection of vendors for non-automotive goods and crafts. This will take place in the parking lot of Aaron’s on 312 S. York Road.

Over the years, Moonlight Memories has seen an increase in popularity among Hatboro residents and beyond. The exhibitors and attendees come from all over Southeastern Pennsylvania to participate in the car show on Hatboro’s mainstreet.

“Once again, the community of Hatboro welcomes participants, judges, chamber volunteers and visitors to our annual Moonlight Memories Car Show,” said Joe Tryon, Greater Hatboro Chamber president. “For more than two decades, this event has showcased our growing community of retail shops, antique and thrift shops, restaurants and commercial businesses.”

The car show begins at 5 p.m. and ends with the announcement of the award winners at 9 p.m. The grand sponsor for the event is Hatboro Federal Savings Bank.

“We give heartfelt thanks to our dedicated sponsors, and the area’s civic and nonprofit organizations for helping us pave the way for this nostalgic cruise down memory lane,” Tryon said.
